"Prairie Maid" Candies Antique Cardboard Box – Bond & Ronald, Winnipeg
A charming piece of early 20th-century Canadian confectionery history. This original cardboard candy box was produced by Bond & Ronald of Winnipeg, Manitoba, under their Prairie Maid brand.
The upper-left corner of the box bears a distinguished crest with the inscription: "By Appointment to Their Excellencies the Lord and Lady Byng of Vimy" — a royal-style warrant referencing Viscount Julian Byng and his wife Lady Evelyn Byng, who served as Canada's Governor General and viceregal consort from 1921 to 1926. This appointment crest dates the box to that era, making it approximately 100 years old.
