Volunteer Testimonials:

Martha [volunteering since 90's, works with books]

"I love the camaraderie between volunteers; we are one big family! It's also good to know that the work I do helps people in need both here in our community and across the globe."

Mary [volunteering since '05, works with toys]

"MCC is like a second family to me, and I enjoy interacting with our customers. Sorting toys can be tedious, but I take pleasure in having them packaged and displayed nicely!"

Here are some areas we need help in:

Cashiering

Are you friendly and enjoy meeting new people? No experience necessary – all training provided. We are also looking for people who might not want a regular weekly shift but would be willing to be added to our relief list to be called in as needed.

Clothing

Do you enjoy sorting and organizing? Do you have a keen eye for quality and fashion? We are often looking for help with our generous clothing donations!

Common Thread

Are you an expert at quilting and/or sewing? The Common Thread might be the perfect fit for you! From sorting and pricing fabrics and yarn to making quilts to send oversees for refugees - always something new!

Receiving

We are looking for friendly folks to accept donations from donors with a smile, offer a sincere thank you, and perform the initial sort. This is a busy position requiring the ability to lift items up to 30 lbs. Join us and see the wide variety of things that arrive each day!

Retail

Once donations are sorted, we need volunteers to price the items before they make it to the retail floor. Each item you price is another item that can be sold to support MCC’s relief, development and peace work around the world.

Testing

If you know a lot about electronics and love working with them, our workshops might be the perfect place for you!

If none of these areas of work interest you, let us know, we have something for everyone!

How Can Volunteering Help You?

Volunteering comes with many great benefits.

  • Volunteering is an easy way to make new friends and become a part of the community. The networking opportunities are limitless, especially for those who assist with events and fundraisers.
  • We provide a low-stress environment to meet like-minded people, with similar priorities. For those with little or no work experience, volunteering can be a chance to improve your skill set and enhance your resume. Learning valuable skills, such as problem solving, teamwork, and organization will make a volunteer a more viable candidate for employment. Volunteering can also allow you to explore a new career path, without making a long-term commitment.
