Donations Receiver (term paid position)

The Donations Receiver is responsible to: 
  • Greet donors and provide friendly receiving service, safely transporting donations as needed 
  • Organize and efficiently manage the flow of donations 
  • Evaluate, test, clean, and prepare donations for sale 

The Donations Receiver is responsible to the Donations Manager. As lifting and moving heavy/bulky items is a requirement of this job, the successful candidate must be physically capable of safely lifting and transporting at least 22 kg. (50 lb.) and be able to spend most of the day on their feet. The position requires good communication skills and an ability to efficiently manage a workload. This is a full- or part-time (minimum 20 hours/week) paid position. The Donations Receiver must be available to work 3-5 days a week (including most Saturdays), 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (schedule may be flexible). 

The successful candidate will have strong organizational and people skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of MCC, and the ability to articulate the mission and work of MCC, is an asset. Portage MCC’s mission is to serve in the name of Christ. All Portage MCC workers are expected to either contribute to a Christian spirit in the organization or not detract from it. 

This is a term (temporary) position with the potential of becoming a permanent position, depending on our needs. Closing date for applications is June 7, 2021. Expected start date is June 102021 or earlier.

 

Donations Manager (permanent paid position)

The Donations Manager is responsible to: 
  • Oversee the direction, operation, and organization of the Receiving Department 
  • Train, supervise, and build relationships with Receiving Department paid & volunteer personnel 
  • Be the primary decision-maker in the acceptance of donated items 
  • Assist with donor and customer queries, representing Portage MCC in a positive way 

The Donations Manager is responsible to the General Manager. The successful candidate must be physically fit and able to be on their feet all day. This is a permanent full-time (37-39 hours/week) paid position. The Donations Manager must be available to work weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (scheduled days may vary). Ability to multitask, a solid work ethic, and proficiency in spoken English are all requirements of this position. 

The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of MCC, and the ability to articulate the mission and work of MCC, is an asset. Portage MCC’s mission is to serve in the name of Christ. All Portage MCC workers are expected to either contribute to a Christian spirit in the organization or not detract from it. A detailed job description is available upon request. 

This is a supervisory position with the potential of becoming a mid-level management position. Closing date for applications is May 31, 2021. Expected start date is June 7, 2021 or earlier.
