Artist and album background

An acclaimed singer and actress, Barbra Streisand rose to Broadway stardom as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl before bringing the role to the screen in her Academy Award-winning film debut. Her expressive vocals and theatrical approach make her seasonal recordings a distinctive addition to a holiday music collection.

Originally released in 1967, A Christmas Album was Streisand’s first holiday album. With arrangements by Marty Paich and Ray Ellis, it brings together familiar seasonal standards and traditional sacred selections.

Selected highlights

Highlights include “Jingle Bells?,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and “The Christmas Song,” alongside the reflective “Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Silent Night)” and “Gounod’s Ave Maria.” The selection offers both festive favourites and quieter moments for seasonal listening.
