Released in 1981, Abacab captures Genesis embracing a leaner, more direct sound while retaining their progressive-rock roots. Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford blend distinctive vocals, keyboards, guitar, and rhythmic experimentation on an album that helped shape the band’s move into the 1980s.

Highlights include the driving title track “Abacab,” the melodic “No Reply at All,” featuring Earth, Wind & Fire’s horn section, and the atmospheric “Man on the Corner.” An engaging addition for listeners who enjoy Genesis at the crossroads of progressive rock and pop.
