Humble Pie – Eat It (1973 Vinyl, 2LP) [A&M SP 37011]
Humble Pie – Eat It (1973)
One of British hard rock's most electrifying acts, Humble Pie was forged in 1969 when Steve Marriott — the incandescent voice behind Small Faces — joined forces with guitarist Peter Frampton, bassist Greg Ridley, and drummer Jerry Shirley. By the time Eat It arrived in 1973, Frampton had departed and Clem Clempson had stepped in on lead guitar, sharpening the band's already formidable blues-rock attack into something rawer and heavier.
About the Album
Released on A&M Records, Eat It is a sprawling double album that captures Humble Pie at the peak of their powers — one disc of studio recordings and one of blistering live material. It reached #13 on the Billboard 200, cementing the band's status as a genuine arena force. The album is a showcase for Marriott's staggering vocal range, equal parts gospel fire and hard-rock grit, backed by a rhythm section that hits like a freight train.
