About the Artist
Kenny Loggins is one of the most commercially successful and versatile singer-songwriters of the 1970s and '80s. He first rose to fame as half of the soft-rock duo Loggins and Messina before launching a hugely successful solo career that made him a fixture on the pop charts and a dominant force in film soundtracks. His string of movie theme hits — including Footloose, Danger Zone, and I'm Alright — made him the go-to artist for blockbuster soundtracks throughout the decade. Behind the arena-ready anthems, however, Loggins has always been a thoughtful, melodically gifted songwriter with a warm, expressive voice and a genuine gift for emotional storytelling.
About the Album
Released in 1988 on Columbia Records, Back to Avalon marked a deliberate artistic pivot for Loggins — a move away from the high-energy soundtrack work that had defined his mid-'80s peak and toward a more personal, introspective sound. The album is lush and polished in the manner of late-'80s adult contemporary production, but it carries a genuine emotional weight, exploring themes of love, spirituality, and self-discovery. Produced with the glossy sheen of the era, it showcases Loggins' voice at its most assured and his songwriting at its most reflective. The album reached the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 and yielded several adult contemporary hits, demonstrating that Loggins could connect with audiences beyond the soundtrack arena.

- Showcases Loggins' ability to blend pop craft with genuine emotional sincerity — a balance few artists of the era managed as consistently
- Lush, layered production typical of the late-'80s Columbia sound, with strong melodic hooks throughout
- A solid addition to any '80s pop or adult contemporary vinyl collection
