About the Artist

Monty Python's Flying Circus — comprising Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin — are widely regarded as the most influential comedy troupe of the 20th century. Their BBC television series, which ran from 1969 to 1974, revolutionized comedy with its surreal, anarchic, and intellectually subversive humour, dismantling the conventions of sketch comedy and replacing them with something entirely new.

Beyond television, the Pythons built a remarkable multimedia legacy: bestselling comedy albums, stage tours, and a string of films including Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) and Life of Brian (1979), both now considered classics of British cinema. Their influence on comedy — from Saturday Night Live to The Simpsons to virtually every absurdist comedian of the past five decades — is incalculable.

About the Album

Another Monty Python Record was released in 1971 on Charisma Records as the group's second comedy album, following their debut Monty Python's Flying Circus (1970). It arrived at the height of the TV series' popularity and captured the troupe in full creative flight, translating their television sketches and original material into an audio format with characteristic irreverence.

The album is notable for its elaborate and self-referential packaging — the original jacket famously featured a Beethoven sleeve design as a joke — and for the quality and density of the comedy material within. It remains one of the most beloved entries in the Python discography and a sought-after title among comedy and British pop culture collectors.

Track highlights: The album draws heavily from the TV series' most celebrated material, featuring sketches and routines that became cornerstones of the Python canon — including the Spam song and The Spanish Inquisition, among other fan favourites.
