Scorpions – Animal Magnetism

A listening copy of Scorpions’ 1980 hard rock album, with muscular guitar riffs, Klaus Meine’s distinctive vocals, and favourites including “The Zoo” and “Make It Real.” Record only: the original jacket is missing.

Condition & care

The vinyl has noticeable scuffs. It has been carefully cleaned with a Spin-Clean and placed into a new plastic sleeve. Play-tested on a quality turntable, it played through without skips; minor pops and crackles were noticed. This is not a silent or visually pristine copy, but offers an enjoyable way to hear the album on vinyl.

About the artist & album

Formed in Hanover, Germany, in 1965, Scorpions became one of the defining bands in European hard rock. Their sound pairs Rudolf Schenker’s driving rhythm guitar with melodic lead work and Klaus Meine’s unmistakable voice. Released in 1980, Animal Magnetism is their seventh studio album, produced by Dieter Dierks. Following Lovedrive and preceding Blackout, it captures the band sharpening the heavy yet melodic approach that would bring them wider international success.

Track highlights

“Make It Real” opens with punchy, riff-driven energy, while “Don’t Make No Promises (Your Body Can’t Keep)” brings a faster, harder edge. “Lady Starlight” offers a melodic ballad interlude. The slow-burning groove and talk-box guitar of “The Zoo” made it a signature Scorpions track, and the closing title track adds a darker, brooding finish.
