Van Morrison — born George Ivan Morrison in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1945 — is one of the most singular and enduring voices in popular music. A musician’s musician whose work defies easy categorization, Morrison has spent six decades weaving together Celtic soul, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, and mystical poetry into a body of work that stands apart from virtually everything else in the rock canon. His 1968 album Astral Weeks is widely regarded as one of the greatest records ever made, and his run of albums through the 1970s — including Moondance, Tupelo Honey, and Veedon Fleece — cemented his reputation as an artist of rare depth and spiritual intensity. By the late 1970s, Morrison had entered a more accessible phase without sacrificing the soulful authenticity that defines his best work.

About the Album

Wavelength was released in October 1978 on Warner Bros. Records and marked a deliberate shift toward a warmer, more radio-friendly sound — one that brought Morrison his strongest commercial showing in years without compromising the emotional core of his music. Produced by Morrison himself alongside Ted Templeman — the Warner Bros. staff producer known for his work with the Doobie Brothers and Van Halen — the album has a polished, keyboard-driven sound that feels both of its era and timeless.

The album reached #28 on the Billboard 200 and #27 on the UK Albums Chart — his strongest chart showing in years — and is regarded by fans as an underappreciated gem in a catalogue full of them.

Record Condition

This copy has been carefully cleaned with a Spin-Clean record washer and stored in a new inner plastic sleeve. The vinyl presents with minor surface scuffs but played flawlessly on a quality turntable with no skips. Minor pops and crackles were noted during playback, consistent with the visual grade.
