It arrived at a pivotal moment for the band — a double-sided statement that captured both the hard-driving rock and the delicate acoustic folk that defined Heart's unique sound. The album reached #17 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum, cementing Ann and Nancy Wilson as two of rock's most formidable forces.

The title itself reflects the album's duality: the "dog" representing the earthbound, gritty rock side, and the "butterfly" embodying the soaring, ethereal acoustic passages. Mastered at Kendun Recorders — one of the premier mastering facilities of the era — this pressing carries the warmth and depth that made late-'70s vinyl so prized by audiophiles.

About Heart

Formed in Seattle in the early 1970s, Heart was fronted by sisters Ann Wilson (lead vocals) and Nancy Wilson (guitar, vocals). Ann's four-octave range and Nancy's virtuosic acoustic and electric guitar work set them apart in a male-dominated rock landscape. Their debut Dreamboat Annie (1976) launched them to stardom with "Magic Man" and "Crazy on You," and they continued to evolve through the late '70s with increasingly ambitious arrangements. Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Side B also features "Lighter Touch," "Nada One," and the closing "Mistral Wind".

Condition

• Vinyl: Fair — Carefully cleaned with a Spin-Clean record washer and stored in a new anti-static plastic inner sleeve. Minor scuffs visible under light, but played flawlessly on a quality turntable with no skips. Minor pops and crackles noted, consistent with age and light play wear. There are noticeable scuffs across the record which did not seem to affect playback.
• Jacket: G — Good condition overall; shows typical light shelf/handling wear.
