About the Artist and Album

Johnny Cash, the "Man in Black," began his career at Sun Records in Memphis in 1955, where his deep baritone and boom-chicka-boom sound made him one of the defining voices of American music. Released on Harmony Records, The Walls Of A Prison collects material from Cash's celebrated Sun Records years with the Tennessee Two, including the prison-themed songwriting that became his signature, led by classics like "Folsom Prison Blues." A great way to hear the raw early Cash before his later Columbia-era stardom.
