About the Album
Recorded over a series of performances in 1973 and released in 1974, It's Too Late To Stop Now is widely regarded as one of the greatest live albums ever committed to vinyl. Captured at the Troubadour in Los Angeles and the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Van Morrison and his eleven-piece Caledonia Soul Orchestra delivered a performance of staggering emotional depth and musical precision. The album showcases Morrison at the absolute peak of his powers — his voice a raw, searching instrument moving effortlessly between blues, soul, jazz, and Celtic mysticism.
The double LP draws from his finest studio work of the era — Moondance, Tupelo Honey, Saint Dominic's Preview, and Hard Nose the Highway — alongside inspired covers of songs by Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, and Sonny Boy Williamson. Highlights include a transcendent reading of "Listen to the Lion", a soulful romp through "I've Been Working", and a deeply felt take on "Wild Children". The Caledonia Soul Orchestra — strings, horns, and rhythm section locked in perfect unison — elevates every track into something close to sacred.
Rolling Stone placed it among the greatest live albums of all time. For collectors and listeners alike, this is essential Van Morrison.
